The Easter truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine will be positively assessed by the United States, reflecting the Kremlin's sincere intention to create lasting peace. This was stated on Saturday, April 19, by Christian Lamesa, an international analyst, writer, and ambassador of the Russian society Znanie in Argentina, in an interview with Izvestia.

"This initiative <...> will be well received by Washington as a sincere and genuine manifestation of Vladimir Putin's will to create lasting peace," the expert noted.

However, Lamesa added that at the same time, the Kiev regime and its allies would speak with contempt about the proposal of the head of the Russian state, which in fact "rightly emphasizes the importance of Easter for both peoples."

As our interlocutor pointed out, the Easter truce announced by Putin is a step that clearly demonstrates the readiness of the Russian president for a peace agreement.

In addition, the analyst expressed uncertainty that the ceasefire proposal would indeed be respected by the Ukrainian side.

"In 2023, on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas, a similar proposal by President Putin was completely rejected [by the Ukrainian president]. Vladimir Zelensky," the expert recalled.

Earlier in the day, the Russian leader announced the Easter truce. At the same time, the head of state stressed that the Russian military must be ready to repel possible violations of the truce and provocations by Ukrainian militants.

At the same time, Russian Senator Andrei Klimov said that the observance of the Easter truce in Ukraine depends on the actions of Kiev and its "real masters."
