Divine services began in the Church of the Nativity of Christ in Krasnoyarsk on the night of April 20. The Easter service will take place on Holy Saturday night and will continue with a procession. Izvestia correspondent Vladislav Tamoshauskas visited the scene of the events and talked with the believers who came to the service.

"This holiday is important for the whole world, because that's the whole point of faith. Jesus is risen. It means that we will rise again," said a parishioner named Vera.

Many people come to the temple with their families. Nikita, another interlocutor of the journalist, said that he and his family have a tradition of coming to church together every year on the eve of Easter.

"We believe that Easter is the main holiday for the Russian Orthodox people," he said.

Earlier that day, Izvestia began an online broadcast of the Easter service at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. The Liturgy is conducted under the leadership of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
