India will sign a $7.3 billion contract with France for the purchase of 26 Rafale Marine aircraft. This was reported on April 19 by the Indian edition of Times now.

"It is expected that on April 28, India and France will sign the largest defense agreement on the sale of 26 Rafale naval fighters to the Indian Navy in the presence of French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecorny," the publication says.

It is specified that India already possesses 36 similar aircraft, which were acquired in 2016. They will be located at Vikrant Air Base and will complement the MiG-29K aircraft fleet based there.

On February 14, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States intends to increase military sales by billions of dollars through the supply of F-35 fighter jets to India. According to him, this possibility is due to the fact that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a reduction in duties that limited American access to the Indian market.
