Easter services were held at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Rostov-on-Don. Footage from the April 19 celebrations was shown by Izvestia.
"I baked cakes and brought eggs, boiled and painted for the consecration. We are waiting for the priest, who will now perform this action for us," said Galina, a parishioner.
In addition, festive divine services were held in Volgograd. Believers came to temples and churches to consecrate cakes, eggs and other Easter treats.
"We were preparing, we painted the eggs with colorful paints <...> And baked the cakes ourselves," said Tatiana Mitrofanova, a parishioner.
Earlier that day, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia held Vespers with the reading of 15 paremias and the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. The patriarch also consecrated Easter cakes and eggs.
On this day, Patriarch Kirill addressed the faithful with an Easter message. In his address, the Patriarch emphasized that the Resurrection of Christ is a solid foundation for faith and hope.
