US President Donald Trump's special envoy Keith Kellogg has said that Ukraine will not become part of NATO. He announced this on April 19 on the Fox News channel.

"We have stated it very clearly: NATO is beyond discussion. You [Ukraine] will not become a part of NATO," Kellogg emphasized on the broadcast, which was hosted on the publication's YouTube channel.

He noted that the United States has been talking about the impossibility of accepting Ukraine into the alliance since 2008. Kellogg added that the minerals deal that Washington and Kiev plan to sign will provide the United States industry with minerals and precious metals that are not mined there.

Trump's special envoy also said that at a recent meeting with representatives of Ukraine and NATO in Paris, the possibility of a "cease-fire in the near future" was discussed. According to him, negotiations will continue next week in London.

On April 4, Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte stressed that no one had promised Ukraine to join NATO immediately after the end of the conflict. He noted that the alliance had previously only promised Kiev an irreversible path to membership in the organization.

On March 31, Trump told reporters at the White House that the issue of Ukraine joining NATO amid the conclusion of a deal on rare earth minerals had "never been discussed."
