Employees of the military commandant's office of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and representatives of the Narodnaya Druzhina organization brought festive cakes to Avdiivka, which they presented to residents of the city on the eve of Easter. Footage from the distribution of festive food on April 19 was shown by Izvestia.

"We, together with the Narodnaya Druzhina youth organization, came here to congratulate the residents on the upcoming Easter holiday for the first time since the liberation of the city," said a military officer from the DPR commandant's office.

Izvestia correspondent Yevgeny Bykovsky reported that Father Andrey had served a service in the church, consecrated the cakes, and was now going to distribute consecrated festive cakes to residents in Avdiivka.

He noted that residential buildings and infrastructure are being restored in the city, including the Church of Mary Magdalene, where the consecration of festive food took place. Bykovsky pointed out that the situation in Avdiivka remains tense, despite the liberation of the city from the militants of the Kiev regime.

Earlier that day, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia held Vespers with the reading of 15 verses and the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. The patriarch also consecrated Easter cakes and eggs.

In addition, on April 19, the Holy Fire descended in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The delegation of the St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation (FAP) received the Holy Fire in the Jerusalem temple and went to Ben Gurion airport to deliver the flame to Russia.
