Germany itself needs Taurus cruise missiles. This was announced on April 19 by Markus Zeder, Prime Minister of the German federal state of Bavaria and leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU) party.

Thus, he commented on the possible supply of these missiles to Ukraine, stressing that these are one of the best weapons available in the country.

Zeder also added that the decision on the transfer of the Taurus to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will be made by the future German Chancellor.

"In addition to these cruise missiles, we need a real army of drones and our own missile shield," the Bavarian prime minister said in an interview with the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper.

On April 17, Rainer Rotfus, a member of the Bundestag from the Alternative for Germany (AFD) party, told Izvestia that skepticism was growing in Germany that the conflict in Ukraine could be ended with even greater supplies of Taurus.

Prior to this, the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Friedrich Merz, supported the delivery of Taurus missiles to Kiev on February 9 during a debate with the acting head of the Bundestag, Olaf Scholz. Scholz, in turn, called it unacceptable for a country to supply Ukraine with weapons that can be used to strike deep into Russia.
