The widow of the military commander of Izvestia, Yeremin, spoke about choosing a photo for her husband's monument

The widow of Izvestia war correspondent Semyon Eremin, who tragically died on April 19, 2024 in a special operation zone, Victoria Eremina, told how she chose a photo for her husband's monument.

It is specified that the memorial, installed at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow, depicts a journalist with a kitten. According to the widow, the photo was taken during Semyon's first trip to Donetsk.

"Animals have always been attracted to him <...> A small creature climbed onto his shoulder. I love this photo very much, it's one of my favorites, and, in fact, I decided to put it here," Victoria said on April 19.

The widow of the military commander also shared her thoughts on how she plans to preserve the memory of her husband for their daughter. According to her, when a girl grows up and comes to her father's grave, it is important for her to see not just an image, but "his essence — what he was like, and what he is now for her."

"She's small now, of course, but in the future I'll talk about how he loves her, that he looks after her. And this photo is also for her," the widow noted.

Earlier that day, a monument to military commander Semyon Yeremin was erected at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow.

The death of Semyon Eremin became known on April 19, 2024. He was 42 years old. He died while filming a report as a result of an FPV drone attack. The military commander was injured, from which he later died.

Yeremin has been working in the special operation zone since it began in February 2022. As part of the film crew, he was one of the first to report from Volnovakha in March 2022, when Russian troops took down the Ukrainian flag at the entrance to the city. In addition, the journalist was among the first to make materials about the Lancets and the Sunbeams.
