The second stage of negotiations between Iran and the United States on the nuclear program began in Rome. This was reported on April 19 by Al Jazeera TV channel.

"Iran and the United States have begun the second round of indirect nuclear talks in Rome, the Italian capital, according to Iranian state media," the article says.

The Iranian delegation is headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, and the United States is represented by the President's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.

According to the newspaper, before the start of negotiations, Araqchi said that a nuclear deal was possible if "unrealistic demands" were not put forward.

Earlier, on April 12, the first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on the lifting of sanctions and nuclear issues ended. During the meeting, Witkoff, in the presence of Omani Foreign Minister Badr Bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, exchanged the positions of their governments on these issues.

On April 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia was ready to mediate and play any role in the negotiations between the United States and Iran. The head of the Department noted that the Islamic Republic is ready to seek this agreement within the framework of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
