The website of the consular department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, which is responsible for issuing electronic visas, has been attacked by foreign hackers. The agency announced this on April 19.

"The department's website is certainly being attacked by various foreign hacker groups. Attacks, as a rule, are often carried out through networks of proxy servers and VPNs, which makes it difficult to accurately identify their sources," the Russian Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti.

The ministry stressed that protection from cyber attacks when applying for unified electronic visas is one of the priorities of the consular department.

On April 1, the Russian Railways website and mobile application were subjected to a massive hacker DDoS attack. Ticket offices at the stations and train stations continued to operate normally. Later, it was reported that the site was reopened after cyber attacks.
