The UK has provided the United States with a draft tariff deal

The United Kingdom has submitted a draft tariff reduction deal to the United States, which proposes the settlement of tariffs on steel, aluminum and automobiles, while medicines are not included in it. This was reported on Friday, April 18, by The Guardian newspaper, citing a source.
According to the newspaper, the Minister of Finance of the United Kingdom Rachel Reeves is planning a visit to the United States on April 22, Tuesday, to meet with her American counterpart Scott Bessant. During the meeting, Reeves intends to push for an agreement that protects the British automotive, steel and pharmaceutical industries in the face of tariff uncertainty.
"British officials have presented to their American counterparts a draft agreement that provides for lower tariffs on steel, aluminum and automobiles. Sources say that, however, it does not apply to pharmaceuticals," the publication says.
As the newspaper pointed out, US President Donald Trump may soon announce duties on pharmaceuticals from the UK, and they will cost British companies several billion pounds.
On the eve of April 17, it was reported that the administration of the American leader expects to conclude a trade deal with the UK within three weeks. This was preceded by a prediction by US Vice President Jay Dee Vance that Trump would agree to an "excellent" trade agreement with the UK due to its "cultural proximity."
On April 2, the American leader announced large-scale trade measures: base tariffs of 10% are introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the European Union, this figure has been increased to 20%.
