Excessive eating of Easter cakes can cause problems with the digestive system. This was announced on April 18 by Tatiana Strokova, gastroenterologist, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Department of Gastroenterology and Dietetics at Pirogov University, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».

"Flour products are transported more slowly through the gastrointestinal tract, they affect the intestinal microflora, changing its composition. In some people, this can slow down intestinal motility, causing constipation. If people are allergic to gluten, they may experience flatulence and diarrhea," she warned.

At the same time, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract can worsen with an unbalanced diet.

"The risk group consists of people who have been fasting for a long time and had significant dietary restrictions. But even in this case, the most common cause of exacerbation of diseases is the consumption of fatty foods, rich dishes, rather than cakes," the nutritionist said.

On April 18, doctor Jutova warned about dangerous egg dyes for Easter. When choosing store-bought dyes, the specialist advises first of all to pay attention to the composition of the product. It is important to make sure that there are no toxic chemicals, giving preference to food coloring with a natural base. It is necessary to check the availability of safety certificates and the shelf life of products.
