The Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation warned that using a VPN when working with banking applications may lead to the blocking of a personal account.

In conversation with aif.ru On Friday, April 18, the department said that the bank is setting up a fraud protection system in such a way that the system recognizes that it is the owner of the personal account who enters it.

"If an outsider gets access to a personal account with a different IP address and an individual mobile phone number, the bank understands that another person has entered. If a person uses a VPN, the bank cannot determine who exactly is performing the operation, which is fraught with blocking," the Interior Ministry official explained.
