The State Traffic Inspectorate announced mass inspections of drivers over the weekend

On Friday and the weekend (April 18-20), the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk motorists. The upcoming raids were announced by the regional departments of the department.

Traffic police will carry out preventive measures on the roads of the Ivanovo, Tver, Ulyanovsk, Kirov, Samara, Novgorod, Smolensk, Lipetsk, Kursk, Penza regions and other regions.

"On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds drivers about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. Mass checks on Russian roads to identify drivers who have got behind the wheel after drinking alcohol are carried out regularly by traffic inspectors on weekends," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.

He urged citizens who saw that a driver was driving a car in an inadequate condition, which creates dangerous situations on the road, not to remain indifferent and report it to the police. Traffic police will definitely take all necessary measures to respond to such reports, Belan noted.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as for refusing a medical examination, provides for the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine.

Courts will be able to send protocols with defects for correction.

The day before, the Moscow Traffic Management Center spoke about the closure of streets in Moscow in connection with the preparation and holding of events dedicated to Victory Day. So, on April 18, traffic will be closed on the MKAD section, on Volgogradsky Prospekt, in Highway Passage and Projected Passage No. 3502. On April 23, passage along Tverskaya, Okhotny Ryad, Mokhovaya, Bolshaya Nikitskaya streets will be prohibited. On April 29 and May 3, there will be no traffic on Bolshaya Sadovaya, Novy Arbat and Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge streets.
