Thousands of volunteers will help organize celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Victory in Moscow. More than 12,000 people have already applied to join the international volunteer corps, said Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of the capital.

"Over the past five years, more than 70,000 Moscow volunteers have participated in patriotic actions and programs. They introduce the exploits of heroes and preserve the historical heritage of our country," Sergunina emphasized.

As part of the commemorative events, volunteers distribute St. George's ribbons, talk about streets and squares named after defenders of the Fatherland, and put memorials in order. Volunteers are also involved in the organization of historical dictation, thematic workshops, lessons of courage and other events.

Every year, on the eve of the celebration of May 9, volunteers organize meetings of honored guests at train stations and airports, among which special attention is paid to veterans. Volunteers help them get to their hotels and accompany them to events.
