The relationship with the direct supervisor plays a key role in job satisfaction. At the same time, negative statements by the boss can affect the atmosphere in the team, said Oksana Semenova, head of the Financial Institutions practice, a career consultant at CORNERSTONE. She told Izvestia what employees should do in such situations.

"Previously, more than half of dismissals were related to misunderstandings between an employee and a supervisor. And if an employee endures self-disparagement, ridicule, bullying, and mobbing day after day, then all this translates into some form of work results. An employee who holds a grudge against a supervisor is no longer as motivated to work well. Negative statements, especially from management, can have a significant impact on the team atmosphere and employee productivity," the expert explained.

She clarified that constant negativity, criticism, and even profanity create a toxic environment where employees feel unappreciated, demotivated, and stressed. This negatively affects work and motivation, reduces productivity and worsens the psychological state of employees, but some managers continue to use a negative tone.

"Frequent negative comments cause stress, which accumulates and hinders employees' concentration. This leads to mistakes, a decrease in the quality of work and general dissatisfaction in the team," the expert noted.

According to her, managers who use a negative tone contribute to the development of a conflict atmosphere among employees. People begin to avoid communicating with each other, so as not to be criticized. As a result, relations within the team and between departments are deteriorating. The atmosphere of negativity has a strong effect on morale.

"A high level of negativity often causes employees to leave the company. Even if a person does not want to change jobs, constant stress and pressure force them to look for other options. Staff turnover increases. The creativity, innovation, and initiative of employees are decreasing. They are afraid to come up with new ideas for fear of criticism or ridicule. This reduces labor productivity," Semenova added.

The career consultant advised people who are faced with negativity from management to act carefully and thoughtfully. Do not respond with aggression. It is important to remain calm and professional.

"Discuss the problem constructively. Try to have a calm conversation with your supervisor. Explain that you don't like this form of communication and suggest discussing working issues in a more neutral way," she recommended.

In her opinion, it is worth contacting HR or higher-level managers. If the situation gets out of control, you need to seek help from HR specialists or higher-ups. Perhaps they can step in and resolve the conflict.

"Develop resistance to stress. Work on your personality traits to better cope with the pressure. This may include meditation, physical activity, and counseling with a psychologist," the expert added.

In addition, you can consider changing jobs. Sometimes a change of scenery helps to restore mental balance and find a more comfortable working environment.

Earlier, on March 31, it was reported that more than half of Russians (56%) feel signs of burnout or depression at work. This is stated in the results of a survey of analysts of the Kontur communications service.A lot of sense." At the same time, 20% of respondents think that a psychologist could help them cope with a difficult moral state, and another 5% are already working out their problems with a specialist.
