The toxicologist warned about the danger of plastic bottles

Drinking from plastic bottles can be dangerous to health, as chemicals, many of which are toxic, can migrate from plastic into water, especially during prolonged storage. Toxicologist Mikhail Kutushov warned about this on Friday, April 18.
"The most common material for making disposable bottles is polyethylene terephthalate (PET). By itself, PET is considered relatively safe for short—term use, since it is quite stable," the doctor said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
Kutushov added that prolonged contact with water or heating begins to release antimony, which in high concentrations can cause irritation of the skin and mucous membranes, as well as problems with the gastrointestinal tract.
The specialist warned that the reuse of PET bottles is especially dangerous.
"When reused, microcracks form on the surface of the plastic, which is a favorable environment for the growth of bacteria," he explained.
Kutushov added that polycarbonate (PC) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) are also used to make bottles. They contain substances that can disrupt the hormonal balance in the body, as well as those associated with obesity, diabetes and certain types of cancer, he stressed.
"It is worth giving preference to bottles made of safer materials, such as stainless steel, glass or polypropylene, which is considered less prone to release harmful substances," the toxicologist concluded.
Earlier, on April 15, the press service of Roskachestvo reminded RT that not every garbage can be burned in a suburban area, each category of waste has its own hazard class.
So, you can independently destroy grass, twigs, paper, cardboard, vegetables, fruits and waste from them, as well as foliage with the help of fire.
The rest of the food waste cannot be incinerated at the site.
It is forbidden to send plastic, rubber, construction debris (except for boards that have not been treated with paint or varnish), metal, cellophane into the fire — that is, products and materials that emit toxic substances during combustion.Gorenje reports 360.ru .
Earlier, in February, Olga Lakustova, a member of the Roshydromet's Public Council for Environmental Monitoring and director of the Green Mission Foundation, told Izvestia what rules must be followed to slow global warming and help nature.
She noted that it is worth trying to use reusable items: bags, dishes, razors, toothbrushes, water bottles, etc. This will not only help nature by reducing the proportion of plastic that is regularly sent to landfills, but also save the family budget.
