- Patrushev discussed with Governor Limarenko the development of agriculture in the Sakhalin region

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev discussed the development of the agro-industrial complex and environmental issues of the Sakhalin Region with Governor Valery Limarenko during a working meeting on April 18.
It is specified that the volume of catch in the region increased in 2024 and amounted to almost 745 thousand tons. In addition, as part of the second stage of the quota mechanism, four contracts were concluded with an investment commitment for the construction of high-capacity fish processing plants, two of which were built last year.
According to Limarenko, the development of coastal fishing is a priority for the Sakhalin Region, therefore, one of the key topics of the meeting was the modernization of the Korsakov Commercial Seaport. The development plan for the Southern Bucket of the port provides for the creation of a technology park for the production of fishing and tourist vessels, as well as infrastructure for the entry of coastal fishing vessels.
According to the plan, the new port infrastructure will remove navigation restrictions and increase the stability of ship maintenance, and the reconstruction of one of Sakhalin's main harbors will increase the region's transport accessibility and allow it to become part of international transport routes. It is expected that the turnover of fish products will increase from 150 to 600 thousand tons per year.
During the meeting, the topic of agricultural development in the region was touched upon. Thus, since the beginning of 2025, the indicator of milk production has increased. Over the past three years, the Sakhalin Region has been doing a lot of work within the framework of the implementation of the state program "Integrated Rural Development".
Patrushev and Limarenko also discussed the results of the national Ecology project. From 2019 to 2024, the region participated in the implementation of the federal projects "Integrated MSW Management System" and "Forest Conservation". The total amount of financing amounted to almost 600 million rubles.
Also, within the framework of the new national project "Ecological Well-being" in the Sakhalin region, activities are being prepared for the projects "Closed-loop Economy", "Russian Water", "Clean Air" and "Forest Conservation". It is planned to allocate 2 billion rubles by 2030.
On April 8, at an expanded meeting of the board of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia said that exports of Russian fish products in 2024 amounted to 1.9 million tons. Last year, the industry demonstrated resilience by ensuring stable production and setting a number of records, as well as increasing export potential, he noted.
