Nutritionist listed the useful properties of karkade tea

Karkade tea, popular for its bright red color and rich taste, can bring not only pleasure, but also health benefits. Nutritionist and member of the Ahmad Tea Center for Industry expertise Yulia Chernobrovkina told Izvestia on April 21 about its beneficial properties, and also explained who should avoid regular consumption of such a drink.
Karkade tea is made from hibiscus flowers, and its popularity is largely due to its beneficial properties and unusual taste. It is an excellent source of antioxidants, which play an important role in protecting the body from the negative effects of the external environment. These substances help slow down cell aging, maintain the health of the body as a whole, and reduce inflammatory processes, which has a positive effect on skin condition and overall well-being, the expert noted.
According to her, hibiscus flowers are a source of vitamin A. It is essential for maintaining healthy eyes and skin. However, it is worth remembering that vitamin A is fat-soluble and a cup of tea without food will not contribute to its absorption.
In addition, karkade tea contains organic acids and minerals such as magnesium, potassium and calcium. These components play a key role in maintaining the normal functioning of the heart and blood vessels, and also help regulate cholesterol levels. Regular consumption of karkade can have a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system, improving blood circulation and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, the nutritionist said.
One of the useful properties of this drink is its ability to regulate blood pressure.
"Studies have shown that regular consumption of karkade tea can help reduce high blood pressure, which makes this drink useful for people suffering from hypertension," Chernobrovkina said.
In addition, karkade has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects. This property makes it useful for colds, as well as for maintaining the health of the digestive system. Tea helps to normalize metabolism and improve digestion, supporting the functioning of the intestines and liver.
Despite all the beneficial properties, karkade tea is not recommended for everyone to drink without exception. Doctors warn that people with low blood pressure (hypotension) should avoid regular consumption of karkade, as it can further reduce blood pressure.
"For people suffering from hypotension, this drink may have an undesirable effect, so it is better for them to limit its consumption," the specialist said.
In addition, people who are prone to allergic reactions to plants of the Malvaceae family, which include hibiscus, should be careful when choosing tea.
"An allergy to karkade, although it occurs infrequently, can manifest itself in the form of skin rashes, itching or other symptoms. In this case, you should refrain from drinking karkade tea," the doctor added.
The drink should also be excluded from gastritis and ulcers during the period of exacerbation, as it can provoke unpleasant symptoms from the gastrointestinal tract.
Earlier, on April 6, a dental surgeon, chief physician of the Russian Dental Implantation Center dental clinic network, Sabit Aliyev, told Izvestia that constant consumption of coffee and wine can ruin the beauty of teeth. At the same time, he advised replacing black tea with green tea — it contains polyphenols that destroy harmful bacteria in the mouth.
