The media reported on China's suspension of LNG purchases from the United States

China has suspended the purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States amid the ongoing trade war. This was reported on April 18 by the Financial Times newspaper.
According to the publication, this decision may contribute to the deepening of energy cooperation between Beijing and Moscow.
"There will be long-term consequences. I don't think Chinese LNG importers will ever sign new contracts to supply LNG from the United States," said Anne-Sophie Corbeau of Columbia University's Center for Global Energy Policy.
The last shipment of LNG from the United States arrived in China on February 6.
On February 4, the State Council of the People's Republic of China announced that China was imposing duties of 15% on coal and LNG from the United States. Tariffs of 10% will also be levied on American oil, multicompact cars, pickups and agricultural machinery.
On February 1, US President Donald Trump signed a decree imposing trade tariffs of 25% on goods from Canada, China and Mexico. At the same time, he promised to impose duties on goods from the EU. With this decision, Trump seeks to reduce the flow of the opioid fentanyl across the border, as well as the flow of migrants.
Chinese economist Andrew Leung, in turn, told Izvestia that the tariffs that Trump is imposing on imports from China and Mexico will lead to an increase in consumer prices in the United States itself.
