The opening ceremony of the 47th Moscow International Film Festival took place in the historic building of the Rossiya Cinema. Over the eight days of the show, 200 paintings from 50 countries will be shown. The MAER media holding acted as a communication partner of the MIFF.

The organizers reported that they have received 1,600 applications this year, which is 17% more than last year. The top five most represented countries are Russia, China, Spain, France and Iran.

"I am very glad that the members of the jury and the guests were not afraid to come to us. This means that the truth is behind us. I hope everyone will know about it soon. Thank you for your attention to our cinema," said Nikita Mikhalkov, President of the Moscow International Film Festival, People's Artist of the RSFSR.

The program of the main competition included 12 films, including three Russian films: Mikhail Arkhipov's "Planet", Stasi Tolstoy's "Family Happiness" and Andrey Zaitsev's "Two in One Life, Not Counting the Dog".

Traditionally, short film and documentary film contests will be held at the MIFF. The first of them presents 13 films, the second — 8, including 2 Russian ones. Also, since 2022, the Russian Premieres competition has been held as part of the festival. This year, seven films have been announced, including two directorial debuts.

The best film will receive the main award of the festival — "Golden St. George". Silver St. George Medals will be awarded in seven more nominations. Since 1999, the Konstantin Stanislavsky prize "I Believe" has been awarded as part of the film screening, an honorary award to outstanding masters of acting. People's Artist of Russia Vladimir Mashkov received it right at the opening.

The MAER media holding became the communication partner of the film festival. More than 8 million people will learn about the MIFF from media facades and digital street screens.

"The Moscow International Film Festival is one of the oldest festivals that has been bringing together talented directors, actors, producers and audiences for decades. This year's program includes more than 200 films from 50 countries! All this confirms that Russian culture and Russian cinema cannot be isolated! And the Russian film industry is a vivid example of the adaptation of the country's economy to new conditions. The support of our cinema is a separate and very important line in the cultural code of the MAER media holding! And we are happy for our partners when their films gather full cinemas," said Konstantin Mayor, founder and CEO of the MAER media holding.

The festival will close on April 24 with the premiere of the lyrical Argentine film "Who would We Like to Be" directed by Alejandro Agresti.
