Lithuania intends to strengthen the route through the Suwalki corridor due to the Russian Federation

Lithuania intends to modernize the Suwalki corridor to protect itself from the alleged "threat" of Russia to the European Union (EU) countries. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on April 18.

"These roads [are] crucial for us in terms of security and defense. <...> They have always been a part of our civil-military planning as key land routes to support allies during a crisis," said Deputy Defense Minister Tomas Godlauskas.
