Vance announced progress in resolving the conflict in Ukraine

The American side is optimistic about the possibility of ending the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on April 18 by US Vice President Jay Dee Vance at a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
"Since negotiations are underway, I will not prejudge their outcome, but we are optimistic and hope that we can put an end to the conflict," the Reuters news agency quoted him as saying.
According to Vance, over the past 24 hours, "several interesting things" have appeared on the topic of the Ukrainian settlement, which he will inform Meloni about during the meeting.
In the afternoon, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said at a press conference that the United States is ready to help resolve the Ukrainian conflict if both sides are determined to achieve peace. He clarified that if a peaceful settlement is impossible in the short term, then Washington will move on.
