Zelensky extended martial law and mobilization until August

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree extending martial law and mobilization in the country for 90 days — until August 6, 2025. The relevant document was posted on the website of the President of the country on April 15.
In January, the Ukrainian parliament extended martial law from February 8 to May 9.
Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko explained in his Telegram channel why the Verkhovna Rada decided to extend martial law and mobilization in an expedited manner. In his opinion, Zelensky needed this "precisely in order to show a figurative figure to US President Donald Trump."
The day before, it was reported that Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on the extension of martial law and mobilization in the country. According to a document published on the website of the Ukrainian parliament, martial law and mobilization will be extended from May 9.
In February, Zelensky said that after reaching a ceasefire with Russia, martial law could end. In his opinion, a cease-fire is impossible without guarantees of security to the Ukrainian side from Western countries.
