Iran will soon ratify the Comprehensive partnership agreement with Russia. This was announced on April 18 by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement has been ratified by the State Duma. We welcome this. Its ratification by the Iranian parliament, the Mejlis, will be carried out soon," TASS quoted him as saying.

Araqchi noted that this agreement will ensure a long-term perspective of relations between Moscow and Tehran. The Iranian Foreign minister also said that he had informed his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov about the progress of negotiations with the United States on the Iranian nuclear program.

In addition, he added that Iran hopes that Russian President Vladimir Putin will be able to visit the country this year.

The Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in the capital on April 17. On the same day, Putin received Arakchi in the Kremlin.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced on April 17 that Lavrov would hold talks with Arakchi. During the meeting, the ministers planned to discuss current international and regional issues, including the Iranian nuclear program and the situation in Syria, as well as strengthening coordination in the United Nations and other international platforms, the diplomat said.
