Peskov: the month-long moratorium on strikes on energy facilities has ended

A month-long moratorium on strikes on energy infrastructure in the context of the conflict in Ukraine has expired, and Russian President Vladimir Putin has not given any new instructions. This was announced on April 18 at a briefing by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"The month [of the moratorium on strikes on energy facilities] has indeed expired, but at the moment there have been no other instructions from the Supreme Commander—in-Chief, President Putin," he said.
At the same time, speaking about the statement by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio related to Washington's possible withdrawal from the settlement process in the absence of positive changes, Peskov noted that Russia has no doubt that "some progress" has been made on a moratorium on strikes on energy facilities.
According to the president's press secretary, Russia and the United States currently have rather complicated contacts on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, as this topic is not an easy one in itself. In the future, the parties will have many difficult discussions, Peskov added.
Earlier, on April 18, Rubio said at a press conference that the United States is ready to help resolve the Ukrainian conflict if both sides are determined to achieve peace. He clarified that if a peaceful settlement is impossible in the short term, then Washington will move on.
