Lavrov discussed trade and economic ties with the Iranian Foreign Minister

On April 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, discussed issues on the international agenda, as well as trade and economic ties.
"Today, as a follow-up to the conversation that took place yesterday in the Kremlin, when Russian President Vladimir Putin received Mr. Minister, we paid attention to a number of specific issues and the international agenda, but we discussed in more detail bilateral issues, primarily trade and economic relations," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
He added that Russia supports the desire of the United States and Iran to reach agreements on the Iranian nuclear program and is ready to help in negotiations between the countries. However, according to him, the legitimate interests of Tehran should be taken into account in the negotiation process.
On the same day, Lavrov noted the unprecedented dynamics of the dialogue between the two countries after the meeting between Putin and Arakchi. The Iranian Foreign minister, in turn, called the conversation with the Russian leader meaningful.
The Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in the capital on April 17. On the same day, Putin received Arakchi in the Kremlin.
