- Popova called the beaches of Crimea and Sevastopol suitable for the summer holiday season.

The coastal areas of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol are safe for summer holidays, despite the previously recorded low emissions of fuel oil. This was announced on April 18 by the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, at a briefing on preparations for the tourist season.
"On the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, the small emissions that were observed are localized quickly enough and do not affect the general condition of the coast," Popova said.
She stressed that enhanced sanitary monitoring continues in the region to "prevent any complication of the situation."
It is specified that more than 600 thousand samples have already been carried out in Sevastopol, none of which showed exceeding hygienic standards.
Prior to that, on February 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to submit proposals to improve measures to prevent and eliminate oil and petroleum product spills in the Russian Federation, including at sea. By March 15, the Head of State instructed to assess the possibility of using Russian equipment to eliminate the consequences of the oil spill caused by the tanker crash in the Kerch Strait.
Tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239 crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024 due to bad weather. The incident resulted in a spill of petroleum products. Two criminal cases have been opened into the incident.
