Healthy adults and children over the age of 12 are allowed two to three eggs per day if there are no concomitant diseases. Children over one year old should have no more than two or three eggs per week. Elena Zinnatova, an allergist and immunologist at Invitro, told Izvestia about this on April 19.

She explained that the symptoms of food allergy to egg whites can be divided into acute and delayed reactions. Acute ones occur within two hours after eating eggs, delayed ones — up to 48 hours. Clinically, an allergy to egg white can manifest itself either in the form of acute urticaria, angioedema, or in the form of delayed reactions as an exacerbation of atopic dermatitis.

"Allergies accompanied by bloating and loose stools are less common. Even less often, allergies can manifest themselves in the form of respiratory symptoms, for example, rhinitis or bronchial asthma occurs when inhaling egg powders," the doctor added.

According to her, with an allergy to chicken eggs, there is a high probability of developing a cross-food allergy to quail eggs, therefore, such substitutions are not performed in clinical practice. Allergies to waterfowl eggs are less common, but such eggs are more often infected with salmonella, so they are strongly discouraged from eating.

Meanwhile, Ekaterina Kashukh, an expert at the Hemotest Laboratory, a gastroenterologist, clarified that people with high cholesterol are recommended to limit their egg consumption to no more than two or three egg yolks per week. It is important to remember that boiled eggs are stored at room temperature for no more than 12 hours, and in the refrigerator for 36 hours.

She also clarified that Easter cakes should not be carried away either. It is enough to eat 1-2 pieces of treats a day.

"It is better for people with diabetes to choose a cake made on the basis of sweeteners," the specialist warned.

Kashukh noted that Easter cottage cheese is made from fatty cottage cheese with the addition of butter, sour cream and sugar — this also makes it a high-calorie dish.

"It would be best to limit yourself to a small portion — 100-150 g. This amount will allow you to enjoy the taste of the treat and at the same time not overeat," said the doctor.

Earlier, on April 18, Mariana Jutova, a nutritionist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), told Izvestia how to choose a high-quality egg dye. When choosing store-bought dyes, the specialist advises first of all to pay attention to the composition of the product. It is important to make sure that there are no toxic chemicals, giving preference to food coloring with a natural base. It is necessary to check the availability of safety certificates and the shelf life of products.
