The Interior Ministry called the ugly behavior of the deliverymen on the SIM

In almost half of the accidents involving electric-powered bicycles last year, their users were employees of delivery services. A total of 1,254 such accidents occurred last year, killing 34 people and injuring 1,257. Dmitry Mitroshin, head of the Scientific Center for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told about this at a press conference on April 18, the Izvestia correspondent reports.
"The main problem is the couriers of the delivery services. They're behaving outrageously. Of the 1,254 accidents involving electric bicycles, delivery workers were involved in half of the cases," Mitroshin said.
Among those killed in such accidents, 33 people were driving electric bicycles, one was a passenger. The majority of those injured in accidents involving electric bicycles were cyclists themselves, and a sixth were pedestrians.
Mitroshin also said that the number of people killed in accidents involving electric scooters and other means of individual mobility (SIM) increased by more than 25% last year to 54 people. The number of victims of such accidents in 2024 increased by 44.5% and reached 4,591 people. The number of accidents involving electric scooters and other SIM cards increased by 42.8% over the year (4,426 cases).
Due to the fault of the people running the SIM, children and the elderly are injured in the first place, he noted. Of all those killed in accidents involving personal mobility aids last year, two were pedestrians. In one accident, the deceased was traveling on a monowheel along a six-lane highway, which is allowed to travel at speeds up to 80 km/h.
In eight cases, the victims traveling by SIM crossed the roadway at a pedestrian crossing without dismounting. And in four of them — at a forbidding traffic light.
The day before, it was reported that since April 17, the speed limit for all electric scooters of kicksharing operators in Russia has decreased to 20 km/h. This is 20% less than the maximum permitted speed of personal mobility equipment (SIM), according to the traffic regulations.
