The United States plans to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine within a few weeks. This was reported by Bloomberg on April 17.

"At a meeting with Europeans in Paris, American officials said they want to achieve a complete ceasefire in Ukraine within a few weeks, as part of renewed efforts to end the fighting," the newspaper writes.

It is noted that the negotiations on Thursday, April 17, mainly focused on the imminent ceasefire and the establishment of lasting peace in Ukraine.

According to the agency, U.S. officials said they expected "significant progress" on the issue, and the meeting participants agreed to work in that direction.

On April 17, the media reported on the arrival of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the US leader's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff, in France to put pressure on Macron. According to the representative of the United States Department of State Tammy Bruce, at the meeting of representatives of the United States, the European Union (EU) and Ukraine in Paris, the delegations should discuss the cessation of hostilities in the Ukrainian conflict.

On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the US Secretary of State had a telephone conversation and discussed the Ukrainian conflict. Rubio informed Lavrov about his contacts with representatives of Ukraine, France and several other European countries. He added that the "encouraging reception" of the American delegation in Paris showed the possibility of achieving peace if all parties commit to reach this agreement.
