Russian travelers named their main preferences when choosing a tour

Traditional beach holidays are gradually losing ground. Russians are increasingly interested in author tours from local residents (25%), sanatorium recreation (24%), railway routes (11%) and gastronomic trips (10%). This is stated in the results of a study of the omnichannel marketing platform Calltouch, which were reviewed by Izvestia on April 21.
At the same time, every fifth respondent wants to "change the season" and go from winter to summer. Glamping sites, eco-bases and natural residences are chosen by those who value privacy and proximity to nature (18%).
When choosing a tour, one in three Russians primarily pays attention to the safety of the destination, one in ten prefers non-standard locations. Other criteria include the availability of direct flights (27%) and the opportunity to work during the trip (25%). Every fifth person is interested in the Internet, cafes, and comfortable housing.
At the same time, the popularity of traveling by land transport has increased due to the desire of tourists for a more measured rest. Thus, 16% of respondents said they would choose a place that could be reached by train or by car. Another 13% evaluate the ecology of the place when planning a trip. There are also shopping opportunities.
One in ten books a tour at the last moment and does not calculate in advance. Some Russian tourists have become more active in experimenting. One in ten people changes their usual way of traveling, and 11% switched to traveling abroad. Another 8% of respondents try traveling in a motorhome or spending the night with local residents through couchsurfing.
"The tourism industry has been changing in recent years. There is a growing interest in niche types of tourism, non-standard accommodations, and new destinations, both within Russia and abroad. At the same time, tourists are becoming more demanding of security, service, and communications. Travel companies need to change their approach to work and use digital tools to communicate with customers," said Artur Sargsyan, CEO of Calltouch.
Experts have found that over the past year, Russians have been actively discovering new destinations, including foreign ones. Thus, 31% of respondents showed interest in China. The geography is expanding within the country: every fifth person goes to the North Caucasus. Baikal and the Volga region are of interest to 17%, Primorye, Northwest and Sakhalin - 13%. Another 11% plan vacations in the Arctic Circle — in Murmansk and Karelia.
Earlier, on April 18, it was reported that St. Petersburg became the most popular city among Russian travelers in May. Sochi came in second place, and Moscow came in third. This follows from the data of the OneTwoTrip travel planning service. The foreign top was headed by Istanbul, Minsk, Tokyo.
