A court has sentenced a 15-year-old girl who slit her throat to 24 years in prison.

The Moscow Regional Court sentenced Mikhail Baranov, who slit the throat of a 15-year-old girl in the Moscow region, to 24 years in a high-security penal colony. This was announced on April 18 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

The incident occurred on March 10, 2023 in Podolsk. According to the investigation, 18-year-old Baranov came into conflict with his 15-year-old girlfriend.

According to the Izvestia source, they had a romantic relationship in the past.

While in the girl's apartment, the teenager stabbed her several times and slit her throat. It was not possible to save the victim.

On March 13, 2023, a resident of Moscow was charged with the murder of a 15-year-old acquaintance from Podolsk. A criminal case against the suspect was initiated under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder").

Prior to that, on March 11 of the same year, law enforcement officers detained an 18-year-old young man who was suspected of murdering a girl. On March 13, the court took the suspect into custody.
