On Monday, April 21, schools and colleges in Russia will host another lesson from the series "Talking about important things." It will be dedicated to the development of medicine in our country. Izvestia talks about the topic and program of classes in different classes.

The lesson "Medicine in Russia" is aimed at forming students' understanding of the importance of medicine for the state, society and each individual. Schoolchildren and students will learn about the achievements of famous Russian doctors, the diversity of medical professions, as well as the use of modern technologies for diagnosis and treatment.
The lesson will be held in the format of an educational conversation using video materials, presentations and interactive elements. Leonid Roshal, President of the Scientific Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, pediatric surgeon, will act as a federal speaker.
The recommended duration of the lesson is 30 minutes. The methodological materials are published on the website of the Conversations about the Important project.

Schoolchildren of all ages will be shown a short video "Journey into the history of Russian medicine: from herbalists to great doctors", which will outline the main stages of the development of the institute of medical care in our country. In addition, students will be offered to complete an interactive task "Truth or fiction", determining which of the above statements about medicine are facts and which are myths. Starting from 5th grade, students will also be taught about the use of the latest technologies in medicine, including artificial intelligence.
Students in grades 1-2 will talk about what medicine is and what a doctor's job is. They will also be told about which specialists work in hospitals and how they ensure the functioning of the medical institution. At the end of the lesson, the children will discuss the importance of a responsible approach to health care. Students will also complete the creative task "Health is", deciphering each letter of this word in their own way (for example: z — charging, d — movement, etc.).
Students in grades 3-4 will learn about the achievements of famous Russian doctors such as Nikolai Pirogov, Ivan Sechenov and Nikolai Sklifosovsky and others. The children will also be reminded of the exploits of medical workers during the Great Patriotic War. In addition, the elementary school students will complete the interactive task "Medical professions" and fill out the "Healthy student Checklist".
Students in grades 5-7 will talk about how improving the quality and accessibility of medicine affects society and the economic state of the country. They will also be told when mass vaccinations began in Russia and how the clinical method of diagnosis, which is familiar to modern people, appeared. In addition, the students will learn more about medical professions from hospital support staff to pharmacists and medical equipment design engineers.
Students from grades 8-9 will be introduced to the concepts of "accessibility of medicine" and "human-centered approach in healthcare." They will also be told about the types of medical care: primary, emergency, emergency and specialized. The students will also talk about what qualities a person needs to become a doctor and what difficulties representatives of different medical professions face.
The role of the healthcare system in the development of the state, as well as the challenges faced by modern medicine, will be discussed with high school students. They will also be told what drug safety is and why it is important. Students will have a detailed conversation about what kind of career can be built in the medical field and which specialists the industry needs.

"Conversations about important things" is a cycle of extracurricular activities launched by the Ministry of Education in 2022. It is dedicated to the history, culture, geography and the state structure of Russia. Some lessons are devoted to discussing current topics of school and daily life of students.
The previous lesson was devoted to civil aviation in Russia. Schoolchildren and students were told about the history and importance of this industry and introduced to the sought-after professions in the field of civil aviation.
