Four Ukrainian Armed Forces militants received up to 16 years in prison for shelling residents of the Kursk region.

The court has issued a verdict against four servicemen of the Armed Formations of Ukraine (AFU), accused of committing terrorist acts in the territory of the Kursk region. This was announced on April 18 by the official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.

According to her, the evidence collected by the military investigative authorities was found by the court to be sufficient to convict Maxim Vorotnikov, Vladimir Shcherbatov, Nikolai Kalnitsky and Sergei Krytin. All of them served in the 47th separate mechanized brigade of the Far Eastern Federal University and were found guilty under paragraphs "a" and "b" of part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act).

"The investigation and the court found that in September 2024, Vorotnikov, Shcherbatov, Kalnitsky and Krytin illegally entered the territory of the Russian Federation in a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle in order to commit a terrorist act as part of the VFU units," the department said in a Telegram channel.

There they set up observation and firing positions, from which they repeatedly opened fire on Russian servicemen and civilians, preventing the evacuation of the civilian population.

During the clash, Vorotnikov, Shcherbatov, Kalnitsky and Krytin were detained by the Russian military. The court sentenced Vorotnikov, Kalnitsky and Shcherbatov to 16 years in prison, Krytin to 15 years. They will spend the first four years in prison, and the rest in a maximum—security colony.

On April 16, a court found Anatoly Dolinko, a militant of the 110th separate Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), guilty of committing a terrorist act in the Kursk region.
