During his visit to Russia, Stephen Witkoff, the US President's special Envoy for the Middle East, discussed the "issue of territories" in the context of resolving the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported on April 17 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

"Witkoff suggested that Ukraine may care less about some regions if they are Russian—speaking," the article says.

According to the newspaper, the special envoy believes that this issue can be partially resolved, clarifies "Газета.Ru ".

Witkoff said on April 15 that the United States was moving forward to conclude a deal with Russia to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on April 17 that the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, are an integral part of the Russian Federation.
