A smuggler who illegally sold lumber worth 3 million rubles abroad was detained in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. This was announced on Friday, April 18, by the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the region.
It was established that in 2023, the director of a timber trading company used old contracts for the purchase of goods to create the appearance of a legitimate sale to Tajikistan.
"A 27-year-old man provided false information to the customs authorities," follows from the publication of the department in Telegram.
After that, acting according to his scheme, the attacker transported 320 cubic meters of coniferous species abroad without the necessary documents.
Three criminal cases were opened against the man under Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal movement of strategically valuable assets on a large scale across the State border of the Russian Federation"). Now he can be sentenced to imprisonment for up to five years.
Earlier, on April 12, it was reported that a Turkish ship with smugglers on board opened fire on a Greek coast guard boat off the island of Lesbos, located in the territorial waters of the European country, after about 25 migrants landed on Greek lands.
