In Kamchatka, police detained a hijacker after a shooting chase

In Kamchatka, traffic police officers had to open fire while chasing a hijacker. This was announced on Friday, April 18, by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk.
"In Kamchatka, an attacker stole a car and during the trip, violating traffic regulations, drove into the oncoming lane," she wrote on her Telegram channel.
When the police saw this, they demanded that the driver stop, but he only increased his speed.
Volk said that the attacker, while trying to escape from law enforcement agencies, grossly violated traffic regulations, thereby endangering the safety of others.
"Even the warning about the intention to use firearms did not affect the reckless driver," said the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry.
After that, the inspectors fired warning shots upwards. Even when the bullets were embedded in the wheels of the car, the man continued the chase.
The offender was stopped and detained in the village of Severnye Koryaki. He turned out to be a 35-year-old resident of the Tomsk region.
As Volk pointed out, the previously convicted man did not have a driver's license.
A criminal case has been opened into the incident on the grounds of a crime under Article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Unlawful possession of a car without the purpose of theft").
The attacker is currently in custody.
On December 16, 2024, it was reported that in the city of Zheleznogorsk, traffic police inspectors used service weapons in pursuit of an intoxicated driver without a license. After warning shots in the air, the inspectors began shooting at the wheels of the car. As a result, the car was stopped and the driver was detained.
