Luigi Mangione, the murderer of Brian Thompson, director of the largest insurance company in the United States, United Healthcare, was charged with harassment, murder and illegal possession of weapons. This was announced on Thursday, April 18, according to ABC News channel.

"Mangione is accused of stalking the head of United Healthcare, Brian Thompson, near the Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan, and then murdering him on December 4, 2024," the material says.

According to one of the charges, Mangione faces the death penalty if convicted.

On December 4, 2024, Thompson's murder was reported. The man was standing outside the hotel where an investor conference was to be held when Mangione allegedly fired several shots at him.

After that, on December 10, the Manhattan prosecutor's office filed charges against the previously detained Mangione.

On December 24, Arkady Bukh, an American lawyer, said that the phenomenon of mass public support for the suspect in the Thompson murder lies in the growing dissatisfaction with the medical system of public or private insurance in the United States.
