The State Department denied Russia's rejection of the US proposal on Ukraine

Russia does not reject the US proposal for a possible truce in Ukraine. This was announced on April 17 by State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce during a press conference.
During the event, one of the journalists made a statement that Russia had allegedly rejected US President Donald Trump's proposal for a truce.
"I would argue and refute your claim a little bit that the Russians rejected something," the representative of the department replied.
On April 17, American leader Donald Trump announced that he expects to receive a response from Russia this week on a possible truce in Ukraine. In addition, the US president did not rule out the possibility of introducing economic measures if the Russian Federation does not respond to his initiative.
Stephen Witkoff, the US president's special Envoy for the Middle East, said on April 15 that the United States was moving forward to conclude a deal with Russia to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. He also noted that there is an opportunity to rebuild relations with the Russian Federation through a commercial partnership.
