The State Duma proposed making the day after Easter a weekend

The Monday following the celebration of Easter Sunday can be assigned the status of a weekend. This was announced on Friday, April 18, by Yaroslav Nilov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.

"The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) has called for granting weekend status to the Monday following the celebration of Easter. I am grateful to the Russian Orthodox Church for the voiced position — we are returning to our long—standing and absolutely identical idea," the deputy wrote in his Telegram channel.

He proposed to fix the norm, according to which the government will annually, starting in 2026, carry out the postponement of one of the non-working days in favor of bright Easter Monday as a day off.
