Ukraine's intention to purchase Russian reactors from Bulgaria for the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is a scam. This was announced on April 16 by Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Nina Yuzhanina.

"If we had normal and working law enforcement agencies, they would have told us a long time ago what this scam is about and what the essence and root of this scam is," she said in an interview with the Ukrainian YouTube channel Superposition.

According to the official, no one has actually ever considered restoring the power units at the Khmelnitsky NPP.

Yuzhanova wondered if the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies were investigating the true purpose of the operation.

"Who wanted to profit from it?" the deputy concluded.

Earlier, on February 11, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, announced that the Verkhovna Rada had supported the purchase of a reactor from Bulgaria from the Russian Federation for operation at the Khmelnitsky NPP. According to him, 261 deputies of the rada voted for the purchase.

On April 15, Atanas Zafirov, Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, announced that Bulgaria had decided not to sell Russian reactors manufactured for the Belene nuclear power plant to Ukraine.
