The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, called for military restraint after Ukraine's strike on the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). The corresponding statement was published on the organization's website on April 17.

"Any attempt to attack a nuclear facility using drones can have serious consequences. Although offensive drones can be relatively small, they can have serious consequences for nuclear safety, such as causing fires or structural damage. I continue to call for maximum military restraint near all nuclear facilities," Grossi said.

The report also clarifies that after the incident, the IAEA requested access to the alleged crash site of the Ukrainian drone. At the same time, the agency's representatives at the NPP were shown the consequences of Ukraine's attack on the facility.

It is reported that as a result of the attack, a fire started at the crash site. At the same time, both victims and damage to buildings were avoided.

On April 17, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched three strikes by unmanned aerial vehicles on the satellite city of the Zaporizhia NPP Energodar in the Zaporizhia region. According to the mayor, one of the drones was shot down by military police officers, the second drone was suppressed by an electronic warfare system, and the third exploded in the treetops. A vehicle was damaged as a result of the attack.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on February 13 that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were terrorizing the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. According to her, the Russian side is doing everything possible to ensure safety at the station.
