The media reported the closure of three of the eight US military bases in Syria.

600 American troops will be withdrawn from Syria as a result of the US closure of three of the eight operational bases in the northeast of the country. This was reported on Thursday, April 17, by The New York Times (NYT) newspaper, citing senior officials.
"The military is closing three of its eight small operational bases in the northeast of the country, reducing the number of troops to about 1,400 from 2,000," the publication says.
According to the sources of the publication, in two months the United States will decide on the appropriateness of additional cuts. At the same time, it is clarified that the American command insists on leaving at least 500 military personnel in Syria.
Earlier, on April 16, it was reported that the US Armed Forces began withdrawing special forces stationed at a military base near the Koniko gas field in the province of Deir ez-Zor in Syria. Troops are being withdrawn to Iraqi Kurdistan, where a large U.S. base is located.
