The UN says it is ready to join the new Black Sea initiative

The UN said it was ready to participate in the Black Sea initiative, Izvestia has learned from the UN secretariat.
"Shortly after the conflict began, we began working on issues related to food and fertilizer exports from Russia and Ukraine, as well as issues related to freedom of navigation in the Black Sea. The UN continues these efforts with all actors, including engagement with the U.S., providing information to advance these efforts. "The UN remains available to support all peace efforts," Stephanie Tremblay, deputy spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, told Izvestia.
Russia and the United States agreed to resume the Black Sea initiative following a meeting in Saudi Arabia on March 24. This refers to the so-called grain deal brokered by the UN and Turkey in Istanbul in July 2022. It expired in July 2023 after Moscow refused to renew it.
