In Ukraine, 165 air defense systems "disappeared without a trace" in the 27 years from 1992 to 2019, President Vladimir Zelensky said on April 17.

"You know, there were 225 systems in Ukraine in 1992, if you're interested. In 2019, I think it was about 60. Most of the systems disappeared somewhere in the period 2000-2019. Until 2000, Ukraine had 168-169 systems out of 225 systems," he told reporters at a briefing.

The Ukrainian leader complains almost every day about the lack of air defense in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), noting that this is of critical importance in the current conflict.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Mariana Bezuglaya said on February 12 that the shortage of air defense systems in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is critical.
