The case of a tram hitting schoolchildren in Chelyabinsk was brought to court

In Chelyabinsk, the investigation of the criminal case against the tram driver who hit two schoolchildren on Pobedy Avenue has been completed. This was reported to the news agency " <url>" by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.
"The prosecutor's office has approved an indictment in a criminal case against the driver, who is charged under Part 1 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules by a person driving a tram, which negligently caused serious harm to human health," the report says.
The hit-and-run occurred on January 20, 2025 at the intersection of Pobedy Avenue and Moldavskaya Street. A tram traveling on route 22 hit pedestrians who were crossing the road at a green traffic light. Two schoolchildren, one of whom was on a bicycle, were thrown away. The injuries of one of the teenagers were later classified as causing serious harm to health.
According to the news agency, a 63-year-old woman was driving the car. The materials of the criminal case in which she is a defendant have been transferred to the Kalininsky District Court of Chelyabinsk for consideration on the merits.
