Styler programs were used in 77% of attacks related to the theft of Russians' identification data. This was reported in the Information Protection holding on Thursday, April 17. Experts also mentioned it in an interview with Lenta.Ru is the most popular way to steal sensitive information when equipment is infected.

Experts said that stylers are a special type of malware designed to steal confidential data. Most often, attackers manage to use them to get passwords from social networks and messengers (65%), from e-mail (32%), applications from banks (28%), government agencies (27%), as well as from work accounts (24%).

Fraudsters can use the victim's personal accounts for phishing, blackmail a person with personal information, or carry out an attack on a company through a work account, Informzashchita warned.

At the same time, in 85% of all attacks using stylers, hackers seek to obtain identification data.

Phishing mailings are the main way to distribute stilers. The scheme works like this: the user receives an email or message in a messenger with an attached file, which is downloaded and malicious software is installed on the device.

According to experts, malware can be detected on the device by checking through an antivirus. It is also worth paying attention to changes in the functioning of the computer: opening applications without the user's knowledge, faster power consumption, slower reaction to cursor movement.

Russians were advised not to download files obtained from questionable sources, use two-factor authentication, create different passwords for different accounts, and change them regularly.

Earlier that day, the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation warned that fraudsters began hacking accounts on "Public Services" using the screen demonstration function. 360.ru .

It is clarified that the attackers call the victims, posing as law enforcement officers or representatives of government agencies, and ask them to register on a specific resource, reports NSN. They then suggest enabling a screen demonstration to simplify the process. As a result, fraudsters gain access to personal data and hack into an account on Gosuslugi.
