- The Russian ambassador spoke about the Bundestag's decision not to invite him to the commemorative event.

Not inviting a Russian representative to a commemorative event in Germany marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe is Budenstag's choice, which the Russian Ambassador to Germany, Sergei Nechaev, treats calmly. The diplomat himself told reporters about this on April 17.
"If the leadership of the German Bundestag does not consider it necessary to invite the Russian ambassador to an event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Germany and Europe from Nazism, in which the Red Army and the multinational Soviet people play a decisive role, this is his choice," Nechaev said.
In addition, he said that about 300 commemorative events have already been planned at the embassy and other Russian foreign institutions in Germany, including laying wreaths and flowers at all major Soviet military graves and memorials in Germany.
"Paying tribute to the fallen soldiers-liberators is our sacred duty, and we will fulfill it. We always invite veterans of the Great Patriotic War, compatriots, colleagues from diplomatic missions of the CIS countries, representatives of German public organizations to our events. I am convinced that the upcoming date is designed to unite us, not separate us," the ambassador stressed.
The Russian Ambassador also noted that the political situation should not affect the attitude towards the feat of the ancestors.
Earlier, on April 16, Niels–Olaf Luders, a member of the Brandenburg Landtag and head of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (BSW) faction, said that the German Foreign Ministry's call not to invite Russian representatives to commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II was absolutely unacceptable.
In addition, on April 5, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted that the expulsion of Russia and Belarus from the celebrations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory was a blatant insult.
At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on April 16 that more and more people in various countries of the world see Russia as a guardian and defender of traditional values.
