On April 17, the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, reported that the Moldovan authorities were trying to isolate her out of fear of autonomy.

"Today, the Chisinau Court of Appeal rejected the petition of my defense. I remain under house arrest <...> The authorities are afraid that I will continue to fulfill the mandate of the Bashkan entrusted to me by the people of Gagauzia. Their goal is not just to isolate me, their goal is to silence the whole of Gagauzia," she said in a message on her Telegram channel.

In addition, she added that this decision only confirms that the criminal case against her was "fabricated on a political order."

On the same day, it became known that the Chisinau Court of Appeal rejected the protest of Hutsul's lawyers, retaining for her a measure of restraint in the form of a 30-day house arrest.

On March 25, Hutsul was detained at the Chisinau airport. Her name was found on the list of persons who are prohibited from leaving the country. Later, on March 28, the head of Gagauzia was arrested for 20 days, and on April 9, the court replaced her preventive measure with house arrest.
